THE REVIEW

Giulio Sangirardi is part of the Post Contemporary Corporation, but he has a significant past that proves fundamental to understanding what he proposes with his new project, Urania, in which Mimmo Mellace, former member of Parto Delle Nuvole Pesanti, also participates.

The band referred to is Votiva Lux, a proud spokesperson for British-derived psychedelic rock. And one can trace back the genetic code present in "Kainua", the debut EP (composed of 5 tracks for just under half an hour of playtime) of Urania, to that experience. Instrumental pieces flooded with spatial melody, characterized by layered guitar work, precise and pulsating drumming, and a bass that traces trajectories of active accompaniment.

It all could be attributed to a rock wave sound that is never too intense, although "Magnetar" opens positive avenues in that direction, while the insipid acoustic closing leaves a bit of a bitter taste.

Summary by Bot

Urania's debut EP Kainua showcases a psychedelic rock sound deeply influenced by the members' past musical projects. The instrumental tracks offer layered guitars and precise drumming, evoking a spatial melody. While mostly solid, the acoustic closing track falls flat for the reviewer. Overall, Kainua presents an interesting but uneven listening experience.
