UR - CITY OF UR (NICETY)

UR is an Italian duo that has been based in Berlin for a long time. Over the years, Ur's distinctive sound has lent itself to collaborations with artists from different genres, feeling at ease among rock, jazz, and experimental music, sharing the stage with various friends and colleagues, including members of Einstürzende Neubauten, Bob Rutman, and Mad Kate. They blend instruments like sheet metal, industrial tools, electronics, baritone sax, flute, and Nei, a traditional Sufi instrument with which they have recently explored in a unique and original way the hypnotism of traditional Greek and Turkish music. The experimental aspect and the desire for innovation and research characterize the band and attract the attention of Malika Ayane, who not only chooses to have them with her in theaters during her "Domino" tour (between 2018 and 2019), but also involves them in the parallel project that sees them with her in an unusual trio formation, where the sounds of Jacopo and Nico find comfort and accompany those of Malika in new arrangements specially created for the major Italian clubs. But that's not all. After this collaboration, Malika decides to produce and release their album. And City Of UR is the reflection of the way of living and conceiving music for the two. UR is a constantly working sonic workshop, a reality currently embodied in a tentacled duo formed by Jacopo Bertacco on guitar/synth/vocals and Nico Lippolis on drums. The result of this encounter is a magma of harsh, experimental, and psychedelic sounds, that places absolute faith in the power of rock as a means to shake consciences. Ur's music reflects the strong identity of the band and the wide musical background of its two members. Thus, a unique sound is born, composed of multiple stylistic influences, moving freely between Punk, Progressive, Psychedelia, and Electronics.
