Anno Domini 1999.
Tortona.
The night is disrupted by a thunderous roar. From the heavens, onto the remains of our beloved peninsula, descends an enormous purple mammoth from the deep space. It looks like a God. It takes a step and the ground trembles beneath its feet... a storm explodes in your ears. With heavy exhaustion, the creature comes closer, waving its massive head and blowing smoke from its trunk. A hypnotic spiral shines in its eyes. You cannot look away. You cannot escape. Little by little, you get lost inside it... Air no longer exists. There is only noise. There is too much noise, even to be afraid.
The sonic fury expressed by Ufomammut cannot be classified within any well-defined genre; it has roots in stoner, metal, and psychedelic rock, but none of these genres can comprehensively summarize their sound. In this first demo tape, their essence is already encapsulated: a wall of sound bordered by distant screams and psychedelic lacework. A hammer thrown directly into our brain reminding us that music can be enormous while we remain small in its presence.
