"I wrote this song for my wife Ali. Even before knowing what commitment was, I was a boy in the arms of this young woman, in a world somehow hostile to love at a young age."

A concept about youth compared with the individual you are now. Mistakes and falls, bruises and kisses.

Innocence + Experience.
With the album and this song, U2 has shown they still have much to say and tell, despite the opinion of many detractors.

Messages that are anything but trite or banal, finding their beauty in depth.

You've got a face not spoiled by beauty,
I've got some scars from where I've been.

The passing of time and an old flame that doesn't extinguish. And it's not easy to keep a flame alive.
A light sometimes difficult to see, but you must not let it go away.
There is a darkness we should not doubt.

The scars and wrinkles that are not scary. They are a victory.

And I'm a long way from your hill of calvary.
And I'm a long way from where I was and where I need to be.

You can be different but accomplices at the same time. Despite the mistakes and sharp words.

A sinner and an angel can love each other.

Sitting and assuming a bad posture to be more comfortable, with crossed hands, a guy reflects on the words of the piece. And also on the memory he has of this gift received some time ago, the new U2 album, from a special person.

Song for someone is the best track on the album and, I would dare say, one of the best of their career.
One of those that digs deep.
If you want to give the band a chance to amaze you again, give it a listen with open ears, mind, and heart.
I also recommend watching the nice video clip starring Woody Harrelson and his daughter, despite my “Video killed the radio stars” philosophy.

P.S. I look forward with trepidation to "Songs of Experience"
