I was unsure whether to write this review. This Epilogue is an album that captures your interest at first listen, fascinates you at the second, on the third you say "nice," and after a month, it's gathering dust. Why??
It is a good album, but lacking in personality. There are very beautiful tracks, few tonal falls, but too much, too much uniformity. It's not easy to forget the chorus of Hollow Heart or the extraordinary poetry of Garden of Stones (which contains a very sad suicidal hidden track and then half an hour (!!!!!) of guitar riffs), but these Finns need to find something more to make their good work more original.
The artwork is very beautiful, capturing the essence of the CD's content.
I won't go into more detail, and I'll conclude with the aforementioned Garden of Stones
"Snow has covered her grave
And flowers have withered away
Cold wind cries in the trees
Frozen tears mark my grief
The flickering, weak candlelight
Shatters the dead of the night
I bury my face in my hands
I try to speak but I can't
With a breeze arrives a sparrow
Lands on her gravestone
I raise my head and realize
I am no longer alone
Haven of shadows in the garden of stones
Cold wind blows out the flame
And darkness surrounds me again
The sparrow starts silently singing
A song only she and I know
I shed a tear on her grave
And silently whisper her name
As cold wind still shakes the trees
I know she now rests in peace
With a breeze leaves the sparrow
Flies into the unknown
I bow my head and realize
I want to follow
Her..."
[Epilogue - Hidden track]
"Now I write this final letter
To whom it may concern
It is time to close a chapter
The last one in this world
Soon as I'm done writing
It's time for me to go
I make the final cut
And let the red stream flow
I'm thrown in death's embrace
I feel its soothing warmth
Calmess on my face
I close my eyes for evermore
Down the road to the unknown
I walk the narrow
And I feel the comfort
Of leaving life behind
Soon as I'm done walking
I've left the world behind"
