THE REVIEW

Avant/Acid/Psychedelic/garage rock (and if you don't hear the garage rock, you at least hear the garage where the record seems to have been played).

In 2007, Holy Mountain (Om, Mammatus, Six Organs Of Admittance, Yoga, and a bunch of other twisted minds) released this "Early Teeth" by the "Tivol", a band belonging to the underground scene (hopefully this makes them happy because it’s tough to break out of said scene...) from Finland. The album, a reissue of independently released tracks that are difficult if not impossible to find, dated 2002, consists of four very acid, very long tracks, where bold and badass guitar riffs (that will particularly appeal to those who still dream of the seventies at night) carve their way through destabilizing and psychotic cacophonic bases (did someone say drone? let's not exaggerate).

An aggressive hypnotic vortex, where tactile and auditory impressions, colors, and smells crumple upon themselves, melt, and fluidify their essence in an orgy of forty-one minutes and a little breathlessness.

From this chaotic, redundant pandemonium, you come out completely dazed. And if you were already dazed before going in, things start to get heavy: dizziness, nausea, and a freaking urge to start over again immediately.

Because there's absolutely nothing serious here, but really nothing, here it's a game to see who can do it harder, who can daze you more with seven notes. And these Tivol, both badass and goofy, earn a little spot in your psychostereo.

A note aside for the track titles: whoever is capable of deciphering them, please step forward:

  1. Vihaan vitusti kaikkea mitä kulutusyhteiskunnan aikaansaama pinnallinen alkoholiin perustuva sosiaalinen käyttäytymiskulttuuri edustaa
  2. Läskipäisyyden kultainen suihku
  3. Viha, kateus, katkeruus ja muut loistofiilikset
  4. Jawohl, Tivol!

Have a good trip.
