THE REVIEW

The fortune of Tides of Man, contrary to what you might think, was losing their singer. This album is indeed the result of the hard work of the remaining band members in composing instrumental tracks. Judging by the critics, it seems to be a good album, but we all know that critics sometimes make a completely wrong judgment, criticizing the fundamental pillars of an album that would later remain in history (see Pornography by the Cure) or unjustifiably attacking albums of decent and appreciable value (first and foremost Nocturama by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds). To clear up the doubt of how this album was, I decided (grandma's remedy) to listen to it from start to finish. My verdict after numerous listens is decidedly positive. A high-quality post-rock, capable of looking down even on tracks by more renowned artists in the genre. What makes this work appreciable is not only the well-structured melody (Mountain House, We Were Only Dreaming, Hold Still) but also the rhythm (as in the first minute of Eyes Like Strange Sins and in All the Years). Notably, the final part, with three tracks each better than the last: from organ-like electronics to percussion that is then picked up in the crescendo of Parallels by the typical guitars of this album, to conclude with the powerful Measure Your Breath. An excellent work, little known especially in Italy but which, not for this reason (indeed, as an incentive), lacks quality. Clearly passed, everything.
