Hi, this is my first review on DeBaser, and I would like to review one of the few bands that continue to make Punk, the REAL punk, not the fake-rebels created by record labels to swindle 15 euros from 12-year-old kids.
The band in question is the Suicide Machines. The album in question, titled "Steal This Record", dates back to 2001, the third-to-last album before the group's definitive breakup. The album title is taken from the title of a book by Abbie Hoffman. The album was released shortly after the fall of the twin towers, which compromised the album's visibility because of the group's name, making it difficult to accept in such a critical moment, leading some radio stations to refuse to broadcast the work in question.
But now let's get to the album in question. The work is homogeneous and almost never repetitive. The album opens with "Killing Blow", one of the best songs on the album which is also the first single extracted, then gives way to the title track. From here on, very powerful songs follow, with the only moment to catch a breath being "Stand Up," a song slightly less powerful than the others. Lukacinsky's voice (vocalist and guitarist of the band) is perfect and fits the group's sound very well. Furthermore, the pop rock influence is very noticeable, which differentiates this and the previous work from the first two albums, a factor that, however, makes "Steal This Record" even more enjoyable.
Ultimately, an excellent album that certainly deserves attention.
