The Suicide Machines

Musical Group

The Suicide Machines are an American punk rock band formed in Detroit in 1991, known for blending punk and ska. They had a successful 1990s run (notably Destruction by Definition) and after an initial breakup in 2006 later reformed and released Revolution Spring (2020).

Formed in Detroit (1991); breakthrough with Destruction by Definition; known for ska-punk blend; Steal This Record (2001) referenced Abbie Hoffman in its title; the band's name led to reduced radio exposure for some material after the September 2001 attacks.

A 2008 DeBaser review (by Ale_Punk94) praises Steal This Record (2001) as "real punk" and highlights its pop-rock influence. The reviewer notes the album title references Abbie Hoffman and says the band's name affected radio play after 9/11. Vocals by Lukacinsky are singled out as fitting the band's sound. Overall the review calls the album excellent and recommends it.

For:fans of punk rock, ska-punk listeners, DeBaser readers

Hi, this is my first review on DeBaser, and I would like to review one of the few bands that continue to make Punk, the REAL punk, not the fake-rebels created by record labels to swindle 15 euros from 12-year-old kids.
