LA RECENSIONE

This is a rather interesting project that tries to combine ambient house (or new age, if you prefer, though I find these definitions cloying) with the legendary guitar of David Gilmore. It's a mix reminiscent of similar projects crafted by the duo Robert Fripp/Brian Eno.

The two suites that make up the work offer relaxing and dreamlike atmospheres that would be quite monotonous and probably not very stimulating if they weren't supported by Gilmore's guitar (slide and otherwise). In fact, I would say that Gilmore's presence supports and gives breath to the atmosphere of the tracks, so much so that it suggests that the composition of the pieces is not solely the work of Paterson and Fehlmann.

The double vinyl edition by Columbia-Sony, in a limited edition, is excellent.

Summary by Bot

Metallic Spheres is an intriguing collaboration merging The Orb's ambient house style with David Gilmour's iconic guitar work. The album creates relaxing, dreamlike soundscapes, with Gilmour's guitar elevating the compositions. The double vinyl edition by Columbia-Sony adds collectible value. While somewhat monotonous on its own, the guitar presence brings life to the tracks.
