An English band formed in Leeds in 1977, The Mekons began within the late-'70s punk/new-wave scene and evolved through post-punk into varied territory including country-influenced work. Jon Langford is one of the founding members. They are known for long-lasting activity and eclectic, genre-mixing albums.
