I got the idea for this review while listening to "I'll be There" by the then Jackson5, discovering how music can convey emotions with so much simplicity.

It must be said that more or less all the songs by the Jacko group manage to accomplish this rare and difficult feat. This doesn't happen in this album where the group, led by Michael and renamed "The Jacksons" after the transition from Motown to Epic Records due to copyright issues, indulges in heavy sounds, creating songs without charisma that inexorably induce the listener to change the track. The only ones worth saving are "Torture", "One More Chance" and certainly the most famous and engaging song of the album: "State of Shock", a track where Michael duets with an acceptable Mick Jagger behind electric guitar solos.

In conclusion, it's up to MJ again to save his brothers from the oblivion they will gradually reach as time passes, also due to the fact that their former leader was increasingly establishing himself with hits the likes of 'Thriller' or 'Bad'. To purchase the album, you must be a fan or at least a sympathizer of Michael&Co.

Who knows what would have happened if the most talented member had been Tito, Jackie, Marlon, or Jermaine...

Tracklist Lyrics and Videos

01   Torture (04:52)

It was on the street so evil, so bad that even hell disowned it.
Every single step was trouble for the fool who stumbled on it.
Eyes within the dark were watchin' I felt that sudden chill of danger.
Something told me to keep on walkin' told me I should not have gone there.

Baby, because you cut me like a knife without your love in my life.
I'm out, I'm walkin' the night 'cause I just canmt stop this feelin'.
It's torture, it's torture, it's torture.

She was up a stair to nowhere.
A room forever I'll remember.
She said as though I should have known her,
Tell me, what's your pain or pleasure?
Every little thing you find here is simply for the thrill you're after.
Loneliness or hearts on fire.
I am here to serve all masters.

She said Reality is a knife when there's no love in your life.
Unmerciful is the night when you just can't stop this feelin'.
It's torture, it's torture, it's torture.

And I still can't find the meaning of the face I keep on seeing.
Was she real or am I dreaming?
Did the sound of your name turn a wheel, strike a flame in me?

Baby, because you cut me like a knife without your love in my life.
I'm out, I'm walkin' the night and I just can't stop this feeling.
It's torture, it's torture, it's torture.

She said Reality is a knife when there's no love in your life.
Unmerciful is the night when you just can't stop this feelin'.
It's torture, it's torture, it's torture.
