Help me, because there's something I don't understand about this brand new concept album coming from Boston: how is it possible to fall in love with a work composed of 15 tracks for over 1h15' of music, already on the first listen?
Probably "Act II" is a musical experience that shatters the mind before the heart, to then be fully absorbed thanks to a concentration of melodies with a high specific weight, endowed with a powerful impact while minimizing those pauses, perhaps inevitable in such a long and exhausting work (originally intended as a double CD for a good 120'), which threaten to lead us into an easy-going pop.
A brilliant mixture of many genres, featuring the talented and explosive voice of the bearded and corpulent "homegrown genius": the mentor Casey Crescenzo, former leader of the experimental post-hardcore group "The Receiving End of Sirens", here supported by choirs and choruses as epic as they are emotional and surprising.
From the outset, granite-like guitar riffs and percussion alternate with absolutely triumphant and classical moments, performed by soft strings and brass, giving fullness to a near-legendary alternative rock project dotted with purely progressive elements, where the great strength lies in the creativity here architected on pressing, imposing, and ambitious symphonies.
The "hunter" cannot help but leave his mark, and Crescenzo is its undisputed oracle. So have faith and dive into a semi-theatrical and dazzling experience, because it would be a shame not to listen to it.
Regards, Addison.
