Disclaimer: Feel free to skip this review if you're not a fan of Mr. Jack White, formerly of the White Stripes, The Raconteurs, and now, Ladies and Gentlemen, drummer and co-singer of THE DEAD WEATHER.

THE DEAD WEATHER, which in my opinion, in these dull and lean times are a great listen, are quite the new ultra-powerful band featuring as lead vocalist Alison Mosshart from THE KILLS, with that very "cool" disinterested vibe (she's on all the trendy covers everywhere, oh well...), Jack Lawrence from The Raconteurs on bass, and the keyboardist/guitarist Dean Fertita from the (wow) QOTSA... and on drums is White himself – who is much better than the Tim Burton-style stuffed doll, aka Meg "metronome" White! 

"Horehound" is not a masterpiece, but it carries its 3 and a half stars, rounded up to 4, home in the first place because White is too skilled at turning the usual garage blues on its head, which he does very well, then because Mosshart has a wonderfully sensual voice, blues/post-punk, very, very interesting, and finally because there are strange arrangements, like tracks that turn DUB when you least expect it.

Four key tracks: "60 Feet Tall", an excellent opening track that already reveals the "sickly" and highly electric direction of it all, "I Cut Like A Buffalo" wonderfully Dub, as mentioned, "New Pony", a very "Dylanish" cover of Bob Dylan, and "Bone House", a respectful "stoneage-like" chaos in which Mosshart is sublime.

In other words, 4 atomic bombs. These four must have really enjoyed covering the Dead Times...

P.S. Jack White is the one who, aside from the POPOPOPOPOPOPOs, even turned LORETTA LYNN, the old queen of Nashville's country, into Hard Rock. I think he's quite good...
