THE REVIEW

How can we not talk about the greatest band of all time, loved by more than two generations, an icon of the '60s: the Beatles. Formed by John Lennon (1940-1980), Paul McCartney (1942), George Harrison (1943-2001), and initially Pete Best (1941), later replaced by Ringo Starr, stage name of Richard Starkey (1940), the Liverpool quartet performs in various venues in Hamburg and in the famous Cavern of their hometown. It is here that they are noticed by the young talented manager Brian Epstein, who succeeds in obtaining, after an audition with Decca, a contract with the important record company E.M.I., which sees talent in the four young men.

The story that follows does not interest us since 'Introducing the Beatles' is the first album released in America. Unlike the English record company that promotes the album excellently in the States, the small Vee Jay label makes this record a complete failure. Starting from July 1963, Introducing begins to circulate the market until the end of 1964 when the rights to the Beatles are acquired by Capitol, which will release the second album Meet the Beatles. 'Introducing' was originally released in two versions, Mono and Stereo, some copies contained the songs "Please, Please Me" and "Ask Me Why" and others "Love Me Do" and "P.S. I Love You". In terms of content, it is nothing more than the English counterpart album 'Please, Please Me.'

Much more interesting from a collector's point of view; in fact, due to its low success, few copies were produced in different editions, with back covers featuring advertisements and others with song tracks, song differences, and labels, etc. Due to its rarity, as early as the '70s, thousands of bootlegs began circulating, now present in greater quantities than the originals!!! It is easy to see which ones are counterfeit and which are not; in fact, on the bootleg cover, there is a sort of crease (drawn) at the top, and especially on the label, the name of the Beatles is found below the spindle hole instead of above, along with the album name as in the originals. The prices vary between the various editions, always staying above 150 euros (bootlegs are worth no more than 18 euros), reaching up to a few thousand euros. The rarest edition is the stereo one, produced in fewer copies and bought even less.

It seemed appropriate to discuss this album as it is a peculiar case in the Beatles' discography and the vinyl market in general, sought after by all '60s collectors. Never as interesting as the ultra-rare butcher cover, but always at high levels.

Just to inform you, these are the tracks of the album in the most common and most copied edition (for the other versions, just replace the tracks that I mentioned earlier among the differences).
