Formed in Macon, Georgia in 1969 by brothers Duane and Gregg Allman, The Allman Brothers Band fused blues, jazz and country into a Southern-rock sound celebrated for extended live jams and dual lead guitars. Landmark recordings and performances include their debut, At Fillmore East, Eat a Peach and Brothers and Sisters.

Formed in Macon, Georgia in 1969. Founding members included Duane Allman and Gregg Allman. Early lineup featured Duane Allman, Gregg Allman, Dickey Betts, Berry Oakley, Butch Trucks and Jai Johanny Johanson (Jaimoe). Duane Allman died in a motorcycle accident on October 29, 1971; bassist Berry Oakley died in November 1972. Noted for two-drummer rhythm section and improvisational live performances; At Fillmore East (1971) is widely cited as a landmark live album. The band officially ended activity with farewell shows in 2014.
