THE REVIEW

A few months have passed since the beginning of the year, but I can already say I've found one of the breakthrough albums of 2010. Created by the Polish band Terminal, marking their debut in the music industry. It had been a while, perhaps since Alter Bridge's debut, that I hadn't heard something so fresh and immediate.

Among their influences, they definitely include Dream Theater and Pain of Salvation, but especially the great Ark (note, not THE Ark) of Jorn Lande, thus a strong prog base as the foundation of their songs, but there's more: a crossover component and perfectly fitting melodic openings. So we are talking about a metal band, yes, but with a sound appealing to a wide audience, all supported by enviable technique, never pointless, and the versatility of vocalist Daniel Moszczynsk (don't ask me how to pronounce it!).

Excluding the two brief instrumental interludes that open and close the album, the work comprises ten high-quality tracks that always keep the attention alive and improve with every listen. I won't go into detail to describe them all, I like to leave you the curiosity of discovery. A mention for the two tracks I consider the most outstanding: "Mind Destruction" and "Deep Inside", two authentic gems. But I repeat, every single moment of this "Tree of Lie" deserves the highest rating.

Finally, a band that understands how a modern album should sound.

Nu Prog Metal? You let me know...

Rating: 5 without a doubt.
