With 19 years of career behind them, not only Italian but worldwide success, 11 CDs published and various awards and recognitions, Tazenda return with their 12th album, "Vida," which differs significantly from the previous ones.
First of all, a radical change regarding the leader: no longer Andrea Parodi (deceased on October 17, 2006), but Beppe Dettori, a man already with much experience in the musical field, having written lyrics and melodies for several artists, even of international fame. After the success due to the first albums ("Murales", with over 200,000 copies sold, "Limba" and "Il Popolo Rock") the fame of the band significantly dwindled, so much so that often only live and compilation albums were published. Later they disbanded, partly because Andrea Parodi felt that Tazenda were becoming too commercial, partly because he had recently learned about his illness. The new CD is entirely dedicated to him. "Vida," meaning Life, stands for the love, passion, and daring interest of Andrea Parodi for music and singing. An anthem to life and the desire to live. Thanks to the new leader's acquaintances and Eros Ramazzotti's awareness of the fact that Andrea Parodi was an admirer of his, the duet that opens the CD and anticipates the album's release was born: "Domo mia". "Ti cherzo donare su sambene, ses sa vida mia, ti cherzo leare, e t'amo, e t'amo, ses sa vida mia, ogni cosa tua. Arcanos libros in domo mia, sento le parole tue" recites the song, summarizing in its meaning the entire message of the album.
Followed by 6 new tracks, mostly written by the new leader. "Universos, A chent'annos, Sa fiza 'e su re, Chelos, La ricerca di te, Desperada and laudada". The CD closes with some old hits of the band, including "Spunta la luna dal monte, Carrasecare, Pitzinnos in sa gherra", sung together with De André, Nanneddu meu, Mamoiada. Worth noting is the virtual duet between Andrea Parodi and Beppe Dettori in the traditional Sardinian song "Non potho reposare". Once again, Tazenda prove themselves as the most appreciated Sardinian group globally and the prophets of Sardinian melody in the world.
A mature, simple yet complete and rich in meanings album.
