The Profile

Tazenda are an Italian band formed in Sardinia in 1988 by Andrea Parodi, Gino Marielli, and Gigi Camedda. They blend Sardinian language and traditional timbres with pop/rock. National recognition arrived via Sanremo in 1991 with Pierangelo Bertoli and again in 1992; after Parodi’s death in 2006, the band continued with new singers, including Beppe Dettori.

They sing mainly in Sardinian and fuse launeddas, organetto and tenores-style vocals with rock arrangements. Sanremo entries: 1991 with Pierangelo Bertoli (“Spunta la luna dal monte”) and 1992 (“Pitzinnos in sa gherra”). Collaborated with Fabrizio De André on “Monti di Mola” (Le nuvole, 1990). Andrea Parodi died on 17 October 2006.

The reviews celebrate Tazenda’s fusion of Sardinian language and folk instruments with pop/rock. Murales and Limba emerge as essential, while the Reunion Live captures Parodi’s final era. There’s admiration for the early works and skepticism about the post-Parodi years. Sanremo highlights, De André’s cameo, and iconic tracks recur throughout.
