T-Bone Burnett emerged from the flooded old tapes.
I didn't even remember recording this cassette. It was the year 1992 and, in any case, it had been ages since I last listened to cassettes. It took the flood...
Disassembled, dried, cleaned like all the others (sweet work) and inserted into the old TEAC player, it immediately sparked some interest.
I went online and I have to admit that he's not just any "chicken". In fact, he has produced and collaborated with artists like Los Lobos, E. Costello, Bono... and then he made some solo albums, including this one.
I have to say that I usually listen to somewhat edgier stuff, but it's also true that age has helped broaden and calm my musical horizons.
To the point of being able to appreciate the just-amplified country rock of our singer-songwriter.
Joseph Henry Burnett, interesting look, big hands that seem like two shovels, sweet and velvety voice, definitely didn't achieve the success of Bob Dylan or Johnny Cash or Neil Young, yet there is style and personality in his work.
To cut it short: for me, it's a good album. The tracks are all of good quality and of good variety while fitting within the mentioned genre.
Nothing innovative and striking, but I think it may appeal even to those not fond of that specific genre.
Enjoy listening and let me know what you think.
