I just found out: I was looking for news of his recent work and found out about his passing. He was 54 and died in March, but the news only appeared in July. A long illness prevented him, in recent years, from live activity, after a musical journey that started over 20 years ago, in 2003. Leaf Label and Lo Reordings, labels for which he had published many of his over 30 albums, are releasing this tribute EP, which gathers some tracks from his repertoire, a repertoire that is vast not only in numbers, but also stylistically. I had written about one of his albums, https://www.debaser.it/rothko/distant-sounds-of-summer/recensione, listened to at the beginning of a summer many years ago, perhaps not one of his best works, but perfect for that season that was opening, with the first, still, days asleep in the heat. I had also mentioned, in the text, another of his records, completely different in approach and results, which I appreciated greatly (only now do I read that he considered it his masterpiece).
Kindness. It is this feeling that runs through his music, and that his music deposits in the air.
