THE REVIEW

Music can be understood in different ways, it can convey various emotions, it can provoke different moods, it can have a profound impact on a person's life. It can be direct, sophisticated, deep. But what matters more than anything else is that music can be yours, only yours, as if those records belong to you... with those records, you’ve lived, you’ve done everything.

Then it happens that any action and event that occurs, you remember and identify it better if during that period you were listening to a track or an entire album. You relive those emotions, those feelings, you relive everything. This is the beauty of music, it takes you back in time and allows you to live it again.

One of these albums is certainly ‘'Breakfast In America’' by Supertramp. A unique album with splendid songs, tracks that feel like they were released yesterday, endowed with a freshness that still lasts today.

The album was released in 1979 and during that period Supertramp consisted of Roger Hodgson, Rick Davies, John A. Helliwell, Dougie Thomson, and Bob C. Benberg. In the band, each member sang, and indeed every track is enriched by stunning harmonies. Those backing vocals that made Supertramp famous worldwide, those sweet and dreamy melodies at the same time. The album cover is unique, depicting a woman serving breakfast and smiling, as if she knows there isn’t a real breakfast behind her, but rather New York represented by cutlery, cartons, cups, and various jars. On the back cover, the Supertramp members are depicted actually having breakfast and reading the newspaper. Overall, the cover is one of the most famous and original in rock history.

Every track on the album is a hit, all the tracks could easily be singles. There isn’t a moment during the album that contains lesser songs; all are on the same level. ‘'Gone Hollywood‘' starts with a distant piano and continues with the group’s stunning voices. ‘'The Logical Son‘' is now a very famous track, perfectly summarizing the group’s style. ‘'Goodbye Stranger‘' is characterized by keyboards throughout the track. But the most beautiful and famous Supertramp song is undoubtedly ‘'Breakfast In America’ with the sound of the sax making it unique. Here too, the band’s splendid vocal harmonies characterize the entire track. ‘'Take the Long Way Home‘' is beautiful, with a harmonica that introduces the song. The other tracks are also splendid, such as ‘'Oh Darling‘', ‘'Lord Is It Mine‘'.

The record has marked many generations, significantly influencing rock with unique tracks. The album could truly be considered a collection of great pieces, which means that every track is a gem. A unique and majestic album, a current sound that will never age. After all these years, the music of Supertramp still manages to evoke the same emotions as before, even better...

"Breakfast in America" by Supertramp represents the perfect blend between commercially and artistically valid music.

Listen to it now, it still works!

The peculiarity of their songs is characterized by an extremely clean, fluid, and predominantly catchy sound.

"Child Of Vision," a track, in my opinion, the masterpiece of the album.

So many years have passed, too many, that Fender piano, the backing vocals, mhhh yet ...it’s still beautiful!

It wasn’t understood that behind all that caramel there was so much bitter irony of quiet middle-aged gentlemen.
