I had already sensed the live potential of SEBP by listening to their first full-length (The Swindler), confirmed beyond every rosy expectation after seeing them live on 08/24/2006 in Casarano (province of Lecce).
In this splendid second album, SEBP line up 11 pearls of indie rock d'auteur, one might say, given the high quality of the production carried out again for this album by Giulio "Ragno" Favero (for those who don't know, ex-One Dimensional Man) 2 years after the first work, which was released on April 21, 2006, "Small Rooms" sees the power trio establish themselves as one of the most solid entities in the indie rock field not only in Italy but also in Europe (given the European tours the band will undertake) and which bodes well for the future of this band that, given its qualities, could affirm itself on a global level...
The album shows a mature sound (without forgetting the previous experience) and if one foot is planted in the past, the other is aimed at new, decidedly interesting sound horizons. "Small Rooms" opens in the best possible way, "In John's Shoes" sends shivers, "I hate you God/For what you've done" sings Gionata (Mirai-guitar vocals) and one immediately enters the world of SEBP, made of pure sound power (recalling in some ways Refused), but also of suffering as narrated by the beautiful opener, then passes to the amphetamine-fueled "Rage Age" which is 100% delirium, "So Shy" a rather new episode for the band appreciated for its compositional freshness and melodic immediacy that it exudes. "Need A Gun" is the song that drives me crazier than the others, which will also be the second "single" and video from the album (it is not right to talk about "the most beautiful track on the album" in these cases), bringing to mind a certain Touch'n'Go Records-styled indie rock confirming the group's international stature, we thus reach the first "single" of the album (and also first video) "Feel Sleepy" what to say, it's unfortunately been a long time since we heard such a hit, melodic and devastating, calm and schizophrenic at the same time; more than recommending listening, nothing else can be done...
"Hold On" makes us savor again the darker and cathartic atmospheres that the group usually offers on albums (already with "Sister" on the first album) but in a different and original manner (with a splendid second voice and a piano). "Guilty" is an explosion of rage, passion, in short, what the three Super Elastics have accustomed us to with excellent songs like this "Guilty" that seems to emerge from a Steve Albini production (thanks also to the legendary Giulio "Ragno" Favero, by the way, I recommend his works with Bachi Di Pietra) for its unheard-of energy. "Selfmade Popsong" makes the previous "Guilty" seem like a newborn's whimper and hearing it live is an unforgettable experience proved by my ears which, after that fantastic concert, buzzed for 2 days!!! 2 days!!! Thank you SEBP!!! But it's not over yet, "16 Bits Vs 16 Trks On 2''" is a splendid instrumental that will show you what SEBP are made of if you hadn't yet understood... It closes beautifully with "Julie The Splinter" with impeccable power and "Grace is Lost" (listen to the three attack after the initial riff... SPECTACULAR!!!!!!!!!).
Don't miss them if they're in your area, it's a friendly advice, you won't regret it, to know more: www.superelasticbubbleplastic.net; www.myspace.com/superelasticbubbleplastic. Don't say I didn't warn you... Happy listening.

This is, without a doubt, the best (indie, punk, hardcore, alternative, post-hardcore???) Italian band.
