Since the previous review of 'Small Rooms' did not elicit any emotion (not because of the review, which exudes love, but perhaps because the times weren't ready), I've decided to give it another try.

What can I say, folks... you are faced with an Italian album that finally has that certain something (which is absolutely welcome). This hasn't happened since the days of Marlene's 'Il Vile', and since hours are spent (especially on this site) defending pretentious artists like Verdena and Oasis, why not read and maybe listen to and, as seems appropriate, love what is, without a doubt, the best (indie, punk, hardcore, alternative, post-hardcore???) Italian band.

Let's start by saying that 'Small Rooms' is the second album by Super Elastic Bubble Plastic. The first one, 'The Swindler', is a total knockout. INTENSE. This one is more mature, more considered, but not for that reason, weak. Giulio Ragona Favero is still at the production helm (as in the first) but this time he has collaborated by playing, no one knows where (a secret jealously guarded by Giulio and Gionata), even the guitar.

The record kicks off strong with "in john's shoes" and "rage age" (perhaps the band's most violent track) leading to so shy and need a gun, which decidedly represent an innovation compared to The Swindler style, resulting in more melodic tracks (they leave me with the flavor, especially the vocal line, of Motorpsycho). And so we arrive at "fell sleepy", a song the group calls "old on our side" as it was born right after the recording of the first album (not everyone has someone behind them, not everyone is born lucky). The classic adolescence-money-sucker single with the exception that it is absolutely, completely, honest. I wonder with a song like this and a video (definitely cuter than the one that was produced... I find it horrible) what would have happened!?! huh!?! especially if they weren't Italian! Following is "hold on". This song makes you understand that, without forcing it, the group can evolve to who knows what shores. "guilty" and "selfmade popsong" resume the now classic super elastic style, that is, kicking shins and cranking up the amps!!!

"16 bits Vs 16 trks on 2" is a very intricate two-minute instrumental with a Shellac flavor. "julie the splinter" is the Bubble song, also considering The Swindler, with the most beautiful vocal melody and is absolutely incredible live. It all closes with "grace is lost"... beautiful distorted bass. Superb song.
In total, 11 songs in 38 minutes. It takes little time to be amazed. Ah, the gift of brevity!!!
If you are people prone to depression and post-rock (please someone explain to me what that is), meaning long, melancholic music and your dream is to strum a beautiful acoustic guitar in the light of the sunset while sipping wine after a tour with millions of fans... well, don't count on Super Elastic Bubble Plastic.

They create a ruckus, an incredible ruckus. BEASTLY!!!
