For the third time in a year (record!) I am about to see the Turin group. Since at the previous concerts (in Rome and Latina) I spent the entire show moving in a crazy mosh pit, this time I positioned myself in the stands to truly witness the live performance and attempt to provide an objective critique. The venue chosen for this Roman stop is the Foro Italico, inside a tennis court. The crowd is good, almost full except for the side stands, and at a glance, there are about 6000 people. Opening the event are the Sikitikis, a Sardinian group produced by Casasonica, chosen by Casacci to open some dates of the summer tour. Maybe it's because of the energetic rock and good stage presence of the group, or because people know they are a Subsonica product, in any case, the guys are very well received, with applause from above the stands and the first signs of a mosh pit.

After a few minutes' pause due to the stage setup, the Subsonica show begins. Being the third time I've seen them, I already know what the setlist will be; it will have some differences from the spring tour but will be identical to the one proposed in Latina a month before. Nonetheless, the group seems in great shape, despite having already reached 45 concerts, also because the Roman audience is particularly warm with them. They start off strong, after the intro of "Terrestre" followed by "Ratto", "Colpo di pistola", "Albascura", "Abitudine", "L’errore" and "Liberi tutti"... a sextet of songs that doesn't allow a moment to breathe and the audience erupts into nonstop dancing on one side, and a wild mosh pit on the other.
The acoustics are excellent, both because it is open air and because the group is also famous for their meticulous attention to sound. And it’s a pleasure to hear all the instruments clearly. The group's choice is to lower the intensity around the middle of the live show by introducing a semi-acoustic performance, preceded by Samuel’s solo entrance with an acoustic guitar strapped over his shoulder as he hints at "Two" from his Motel Connection. From there on, follow "Sole Silenzioso", "Chase The Devil", "Corpo a corpo", "Salto nel vuoto", the wonderful "Strade", "Le serpi".

Second break. When they come back on stage, one expects the grand finale, but before diving back into the mosh, the group plays one of their most successful songs dedicated to their hometown, "Il cielo su Torino". What remains is pure energy, with "Gasoline" and the following drum solo by Ninja, one of the most precise drummers on the Italian scene. "L’odore", "Aurora Sogna", "Tutti i miei sbagli", "Disco labirinto" and "Nuvole rapide" give those who are still standing a tough time, forcing them to dance/jump/mosh until reaching their limits. The conclusion is sweet with "Preso blu", one of their first singles, accompanied by a countdown on the screens that will mark the end of the concert.

The evening will end with "Boosta" diving into the crowd and remaining trapped there for a few minutes, coming out a bit bruised. Once again, they have proven to be one of the most important acts in the Italian scene, knowing how to combine nearly perfect sounds, good song quality, and a well-curated stage impact with lights and 5 screens projecting videos continuously. Never forgetting that people go to listen to them also to have fun.
