THE REVIEW

Hello everyone! This is my first review. I discovered this site by chance two months ago while looking for a review of "Microchip Emozionale", so now that I have (finally) registered, I decided that first of all, I would review something by Subsonica. Yeah, but what? There are already many reviews of their albums, and honestly, I don't have much to add; I can't review a concert because (unfortunately), I've never seen them live... the idea came to me when I found out that the Subs would be guests on Storytellers on Mtv.

So, let's begin! First of all, the episode aired on Friday, February 3rd at 10:35 PM but was recorded on December 12, 2005, at the Aula Magna Santa Lucia of the University of Bologna.
This program, Storytellers, hosted by Paola Maugeri, aims, as stated on the Mtv website, to "tell the genesis of the songs of some Italian artists investigating the creative processes, inspirations, and intuitions that accompanied them towards the birth of true works of art."

During the program, the method through which the Subs arrive at writing their lyrics emerged. A method born from the collaboration and meeting of the attitudes and ideas of Max, Samuel, and Boosta, occasionally joined by the other two band members and poet Luca Ragagnin. In the first instance, there is the creation of the instrumental base and an approximate text based, as Max jokingly said, on "Anglophile phonemes." Finally, they reach the Italian language with a process of selecting words that at the same time respect the metrics and can convey specific meanings and suggestions. All this took place in a cheerful and relaxed atmosphere between songs masterfully reinterpreted in an acoustic key ("Dormi", "Ancora ad odiare", "Abitudine", "Le serpi", "Incantevole", "Preso blu"), the telling of amusing anecdotes about the band (such as the argument between Max and Boosta over a chord in "Incantevole") and the intervention of writers Tiziano Scarpa and Marcello Fois who expressed their opinions on the lyrics written by the band.

This episode will soon be repeated, or it is possible to watch it on the Mtv website. I recommend everyone to watch it, both fans (who will find this opportunity to deepen their knowledge of this band unmissable) and those who don't know them yet and want to get an idea of this band.
I personally appreciate this band a lot, both for their albums full of melancholy, anger, disappointment, energy, and for their ability (I would say almost unique in Italy) to simultaneously entertain, dance, and jump, without neglecting the importance given to the lyrics as mirrors in which everyone can see their own emotions reflected.
