Premise: except for the latest album and a few other songs, I didn't know much about Subsonica.

Second premise: for someone from Taranto, it's quite... irritating -and let's use a euphemism- to attend a concert surrounded by pseudo-ultras from Bari waving a red and white flag and shouting "uagliò! uagliò!"

But let's move on... there are worse things in life!

As I mentioned in the first premise, I knew very little about Subsonica; the idea of seeing them didn't occur to me two months ago out of a surge of passion or boundless admiration for them, but simply because they were missing from my concert curriculum. And so there I was yesterday in Andria, with a friend, in the jam-packed arena to see that concert spectacle.

The main observation I made at the end is this: the keyboardist / organist / DJ / whatever is crazy! Energetic and always present. Yesterday, besides him, there wasn't much to the Subsonica. The singer, Samuel -is that his name?- repeatedly mentioned during the concert that he had no voice and could have done much more... friendly, yes, but you couldn't hear much! The same goes for the bass and guitar: several times during the concert, I felt like it was just voice-drums-keyboard. And the guitarist even came out at one point saying "Sorry, we have some problems!" ... basically, listening to them, it seemed like they were going to mess it up!

However, in the end, considering everything, they didn't do badly. The choreographies, the lighting effects, the "cage" that went up and down in front of and behind them, all created a very vibrant and energetic atmosphere. Energy that was unleashed in the frenetic moshing during "Liberi tutti", "Piombo", "L'odore", and "Tutti i miei sbagli", used to close the evening. Particularly significant was the duo performed in rapid succession "L'ultima risposta/Ali scure", perhaps the best-executed songs last night, during which Subsonica reached the peak of my admiration.

In conclusion...

They won't be the band I'll go crazy over for the next 10 years, I won't be tearing my hair out to see them in concert again, but in the end, despite all the difficulties, they made a damn good impression.

Ah... "L'eclissi" is really a badass album!

Three stars and everyone goes home.
