LA RECENSIONE

I was undecided about which album to review, but then I decided to write the summary and draw conclusions about the latest album by Subsonica, namely ''Eden''.

I have always been a fan of the band from Turin (also because I live in Turin) and I have always found them a very interesting band since their first album ''Subsonica''. Since that work, they have grown a lot, and in my opinion, they reached the peak of their skill with ''L'Eclissi''. Therefore, I was expecting a step forward, but instead... there was a step back.

This is not a bad album but it's not good either because there is only one truly fantastic song, which in my opinion is ''La Funzione'', and others less interesting like ''Il Diluvio''.

The album opens with the title track ''Eden'', which says very little (at least in my view), and continues with ''Serpente'', which is a completely different story (one of the most beautiful tracks on the album).

Other tracks worth mentioning are indeed ''Il Diluvio'', which I find very tedious and monotonous, and ''Istrice'', which is a nice death rock piece with plausible electronic atmospheres (in my opinion, this is the second most beautiful track on the album).

The album, however, is full of ups and downs and an example is ''Sul Sole'', a piece that says nothing to me, ''La Funzione'', as I mentioned earlier, is the masterpiece of the album (and strangely it's the one that was the most successful).

I prefer not to talk about the last two tracks since I find them the worst...

In conclusion, this album is neither a milestone of electronic music nor of Death Rock, but it is listenable, and if you don't have high expectations, you might even like it very much.

Summary by Bot

The reviewer, a long-time fan of Turin's Subsonica, assessed their album Eden with mixed feelings. While acknowledging growth from previous works, the album does not surpass their peak in L'Eclissi. Standout tracks like 'La Funzione' and 'Serpente' shine, but several tracks feel tedious or uninspired. Overall, Eden is listenable but not a noteworthy milestone.

'Eden' is the result of a collective effort you can feel throughout the album.

Subsonica have achieved a stylistic maturity, experimenting and evolving yet not forgetting the live aspect and their impact with the audience.
