A septet from Georgia (USA) active in the late 1970s, Stillwater released a 1977 debut and the 1978 album I Reserve the Right. Reviews note three-guitar interplay, R&B and pop influences, standout tracks that include the single "Mind Bender", and a later reunion with a final album at the end of the millennium before they ceased activity.

Members mentioned in reviews include drummer and vocalist Sebie Lacey and guitarist/vocalist Rob Walker. Their single "Mind Bender" charted in its time (as noted in reviews). The band was compared to Lynyrd Skynyrd in style, and reviewers state they were abandoned by their record label and remained largely a club act.

Two DeBaser reviews (both by pier_paolo_farina) assess Stillwater as a competent 1970s Southern rock septet. Reviews praise musicianship, three-guitar interplay and R&B/pop influences, highlight tracks such as "Rock'n'Roll Loser", "Mind Bender" and material from I Reserve the Right, and note that the band remained essentially a club-level act despite a reunion and one later album.

For:Fans of 1970s Southern rock, guitar-centric bands, and R&B-tinged rock with a cult/club following.

The second album by the Georgians Stillwater, released in 1978, is their best; better played and produced than their debut the year before, and more varied.

In terms of sound, compositions, and lineup, they are thus a variant of Lynyrd Skynyrd, but unfortunately without a charismatic frontman.
