NWOBHM, one of the most challenging acronyms in the history of Rock, stands for NEW WAVE OF BRITISH HEAVY METAL. Enthusiasts of the genre know well what this acronym represented and still represents. But for those who are not familiar with this world, it remains an enigma.

The NWOBHM is a musical movement that originated in Great Britain at the end of the '70s and symbolically speaking, it is the origin of Metal as we know it today. This genre is historically divided into 3 distinct phases: 1. Hard Rock (late '60s). 2. NWOBHM (late '70s). 3. Thrash Metal (early '80s).

This distinctly British movement mixes the rawness of Punk with the technique and melody of Hard, through the original artistic insight of its exponents: Iron Maiden (epic and progressive), Def Leppard (melodic), Saxon (raw), Angelwitch (dark).

Each with a personal approach to music. The NWOBHM saga is carefully recounted by Stefano Cerati in the volume "THE 100 BEST NWOBHM ALBUMS," published by TSUNAMI in collaboration with Rock Hard.

Inside, we find a small historical-introductory part and subsequently the profiles of all the albums that left a mark on the English Heavy musical scene of those years. Each reviewed and accompanied by info about the band.

Excellent reviews of the legendary compilations (Metal For Muthas) and of the minor bands, even if they lasted one year, at most two, earned a place of merit in the scene.
