THE REVIEW

So, just for fun, if you like classic and "big" rock (in its sounds, lyrics, and the very original musical structures of the tracks) whenever possible (why not...!) confidently dip into your wallet for a "blind" purchase.
This album, bought on a whim almost "by chance" six or seven years ago for 10,000 lire from Nannucci (one of those with the "punched" case, if you know what I mean), made me discover a great artist, deeply rooted in the grand American singer-songwriter-rock tradition: Stan Ridgway, formerly of "Wall of Voodoo".

The tracks are still VERY much valid (1989) and fresh, both for the musical style and the lyrics, and each track is a little gem on its own, to be enjoyed without any worry, repeatedly and always "with much joy and little boredom".
Which is, moreover, the characteristic of all works that become classics and stand the test of time.

A possible indication? How about a "Springsteen on steroids"? Does that sound good? The strange thing is that this guy, although not well-known here, is REALLY good and if you purchase this album (assuming it's still around) you'll surely be left with a pleasant "aftertaste of notes" on your palate, prompting you to buy at least (I'm giving you these 100 to 1 because "I have them") the excellent Anatomy and Party Ball as well. I guarantee, I repeat: these also get a 10/10.

As for Stan's other works, I should lend an "ear" to them, and sooner or later if they come my way...
Anyway, sincerely "hats off", Stan: even if it's not my chosen musical genre, for what it's worth, I bow respectfully before your beautiful music and hope that many other music lovers will get to know you here. Congratulations!!
