"Hard Normal Daddy" allows more space for experimentation compared to his other records, his warped electronics flirt with jazz. In short, if you want to get straight to the point with Squarepusher, this album might not be the ideal fit (perhaps "Go Plastic" would be better), but these are 24-carat sonic masturbations. The whole thing is at continuously frantic paces, a spastic and unrecognizable recomposition in the form of noise symphonies that could represent the terminal stage of everything break-beat, but in reality, they are born from an exhausting use of the recording studio, among futuristic manipulations, frenetic cut-and-paste, magnetic tricks, and so on.

Confusing due to necessity, but if he manages to improve, this kicks everyone's ass (see "Go Plastic"). Do not expect any melodic concession: this album is an ocean of noise, a vortex of distorted/destroyed frequencies, soaked with iron monsters that at one time must have certainly resembled a drum kit. "Vic Acid" appears to be Post-rock dubbed out of time, "Fat Controller" and "Rustic Raver" are pure Aphex Twin approach, extremist flair and pure neo-fusion, post-jungle, drum and fuck bass; the melodic progression of "Beep Street" or the distorted funkiness of "Fat Controller" turn out to be excellent examples of stylistic DNB.

A true liquid sculptor of sound matter, Squarepusher says of himself that he fucks with machines, for now he has produced masterpieces like "Feed Me Weird Things", "Hard Normal Daddy", and "Go Plastic". Let's hope, for our sake, that he continues to fuck.

'Hard Normal Daddy' is considered by many to be his true masterpiece.

12 tracks filled with frenzied beats, samples cut in a more than frantic manner, and melodies with a vague jazz and fusion flavor form an almost perfect mosaic.
