All the promises of the previous album have been kept, after three years Spineshank return with this "Self-Destructive Pattern" again on Roadrunner and the feat is accomplished: doing a better job than the previous one. This is their masterpiece, a blow not to be trifled with, a truly powerful album that never shows a drop in tone, constructed with a tried and tested recipe in two albums and five years of work. I imagine their satisfied faces once aware of the compositional abilities achieved, in the 12 tracks present the 'shank show us their cards laid bare and many of them are ACES!
Cd in the player and it starts with "Violent Moog Swings", a feedback mysteriously rises only to explode and structure itself in a very powerful piece: here too the band is very angry, they haven't calmed the anger shown in the predecessor and if the initial track hasn't entirely convinced you "Slavery" reinforces the concept that when Spineshank hits, they hit hard, very hard. To calm things down comes "Smothered" with its groove and a pleasant chorus to hum, just like "Beginning of the end" very melodic, very Linkin Park. The storm returns, inhuman screams characterize the title track only to open up in an effective refrain... special praise to Jhonny Santos' interpretation, a very valid singer who never shows a drop in tone throughout the album.
But the award for the toughest piece goes beyond a shadow of a doubt to track no. 9 "Still Born", a blow that leaves a mark with rare ferocity.
Talking about this album, I wonder how they were underestimated, this is a great electronic-metal album, for years Spineshank have gone to school and have perfectly studied the teachings of professors Fear Factory, Nine Inch Nails, Static-X and have applied them without ever falling into plagiarism.
It's also sad to think that a few months after the album's release, the singer left the group to devote himself to a metal core project, currently the band is looking for a replacement (I think it will be hard to find one similar). I highly recommend listening, therapeutic for those who have a lot of anger inside, at least it was so for me.
