THE REVIEW

The primordial sonic gaze of Spacemen 3 emerges from the temporal fog like a space-time portal opening to reveal a transdimensional soundscape through the 1986 EP "Walkin' With Jesus". If you haven't listened to this sonic gem, I highly recommend diving into the depths of the tube, where you'll find a titanic version of "Rollercoaster," a 17-minute odyssey that defies temporal conventions. This epic journey is a cathartic voyage, a hypnotic experience that uproots the foundations of our perception of reality. The extended version of "Rollercoaster" far surpasses the shorter iteration from their first album "Sound of Confusion" (released before this EP), catapulting us into a sonic dimension where the 13th Floor Elevators seem to have indulged excessively in acid. I claim without hesitation that this reinterpretation even surpasses the original by Rocky Erikson and company.

The title-track, a temporal fragment from the early days of Spacemen 3, unveils itself with a frenetic rhythm and a garage aesthetic. Perhaps, my personal preference leans towards the more subdued version present in "The Perfect Prescription," but both deserve solitary exploration. The sonic frontier continues to extend when another gem, "Feel So Good," from "The Perfect Prescription," emerges in this space-time chronology. Rougher, less orchestrated, but imbued with the same bliss and abandon, this track is a manifesto of transcended emotions.

Much like the subsequent EP "Transparent Radiation," it is in these singles that Spacemen 3 seem to reach the peak of their creativity, immersing themselves in a state of altered consciousness without restraints or limits. Their creative madness bursts from every note, dragging us into a vortex of psychedelic sounds that challenge the space-time continuum. In this altered realm, Spacemen 3 emerge as unparalleled visionaries, high and boundless, ready to guide us beyond the limits of imagination.
