Sometimes They Come Back (Part Two)

Yes, you read that right, it's a split between Wooden Shjips and Spacemen 3. And no, it's not a reunion of the latter.
Let's try to shed some light: Pete 'Sonic Boom' Kember is still wandering in the underbelly of the galaxy in search of a bag of Brown Sugar cut with the cosmic dust of the comet Hale-Bopp, and who knows if and when he'll get back on his feet; Jason 'Spaceman' Pierce, after a long apprenticeship with the Ursulines, has turned to spiritualized rock and, let's face it, the gospel with which he has stuffed and weighed down much of his work makes mold grow on our testicles. If they pass each other on the street, they don't fight, but neither do they greet each other.
So: nothing new on the horizon.

Their "Split" consists of the demo of the last official single as Spacemen 3: "Big City (Everybody I Know Can Be Found Here)", entirely conceived by the hallucinatory mind of Sonic Boom. Featured in the band's last LP, "Recurring" from 1990, Big City is presented as it was at the moment of its creation, stripped of lyrics and electro pop contaminations (someone defines them à la Kraftwerk) and somehow closer to the guitar noise hammerings of the group that once was. May Odin always keep this group in glory.
We didn't need it. But for 5 seconds, while I gazed at a brand new cover proudly displaying the name Spacemen 3, my heart beat its usual patum-patum slightly stronger.

The protégé Wooden Shjips, on their part, do not look bad at all, on the contrary, for the first time they signal and overtake their musical Gurus by tackling a transfigured cover of "I Believe It" (still Spacemen 3, but this time on Playing With Fire from 1988), blended in vocal lines and increasingly pulsating in the bass, which makes us appreciate them for what they are: well-made clones.

This 7" is probably already sold out, given the limited run of 1000 copies, but just frequent the right "spots" and you'll find everything without problems.

For All the Fucked Up Children of This World We Give You: Woodm3n Spaceshjips.

Let's make do.
