Swedish modern metal band formed in 2002 by the three Sjunnesson brothers (Richard, Roger and Robin). They won a contest run by Nuclear Blast which led to the release of Only Inhuman on the label.

Reviews describe the band's sound as polished, commercially accessible modern metal with melodic metalcore and Scandinavian extreme influences. The album Only Inhuman features songs highlighted by critics (e.g. "Afterneath", "Denied") and a cover of t.A.T.u.'s "All About Us"; early work Eden Fire was released on Pivotal Rockordings.

Two DeBaser reviews focus on Sonic Syndicate's album Only Inhuman. Critics note strong commercial polish, catchy choruses and a radio-friendly modern-metal sound. They also criticise a lack of originality and a predictable, formulaic approach.

For:Fans of modern metal, melodic metalcore and listeners who like In Flames or Soilwork.

The story is well-known: 1500 bands for one winner, with a contract from the ever more sprawling Nuclear Blast at stake, and it's the band of the three Sjunnesson brothers that gets it, formed in 2002 with the original moniker Fallen Angels.

Honestly, I was hoping for something different (not necessarily better), rather than the usual, for current standards, mix of modern metal, gothic arrangements, melodic metalcore, and extreme/catchy Scandinavian influences, which are obvious in this case.
