THE REVIEW

Behind the name So So Modern hide four hairless wave-rockers originally from the land of the Māori, whose "Crude Futures" is their brand-new debut platter.

It seems they have a great time mixing and overlapping these indie-mischief-makers from New Zealand: at their core is a hefty punk-funk foundation, with a fair share of wobbly pop flair, just enough playful electronics, a handful of post-rock flourishes with the inevitable addition of some kraut, which not only serves as a good source of Vitamin C but also enriches the multifaceted potpourri, giving it flavor.

With the possibility of a sample granted, one might perhaps debate how truly so (so) modern they really are. Preferably to be tasted on an empty stomach. There you go.
