A Collection of Songs Written and Produced With the Residents

I've never been a big fan of compilation albums.

I prefer works taken in their uniqueness, which for better or worse, are the most genuine expression of that specific moment.

However, this collection consists of two albums, presented here almost in their entirety and printed consecutively.

Absolutely unmissable.

They are "Chewing Hide the Sound (1979)" and "Greener Posture (1980)" by Philip Charles Lithman, known as Snakefinger, who passed away in 1987 at just 38 years old.

These two works were born in Los Angeles, during his collaboration with the group The Residents and were published by Ralph Record.

Due to their homogeneity, they go well together within this collection, which reveals the sarcastic/caustic spirit that's savored one piece after another.

It begins with "The Spot" and "Smelly Tongues", the only tracks not included in the two albums.

It continues with the cover of Kraftwerk's "The Model", certainly less smooth than the original.

Later, another cover arrives, this time of Morricone's "Magic and Ecstasy", completely transfigured.

The rest is previously unreleased material, played with the same unique style, on his slide guitar, incorporating surreal and irreverent lyrics.

The scores are simple, the songs catchy, but everything is so wacky.

The guitar riffs, interrupted tempos, and elaborate compositions in general can disorient and lead to abandonment of listening.

If this should happen, I advise you to persevere.

In the end, you might really appreciate this artist, unknown to most and gone too soon.
