THE REVIEW

The column "Le ricette di suor Germana" today teaches us how to make good granone for the chickens in our yard. How it's prepared: take four or five maladjusted kids from American suburbs (or even worse from the rustic countryside), a dozen masks and costumes to give tone and originality to the mix's flavor, at least one talented musician, to satisfy the tastes of the most intransigent defenders. This way, you will always be able to oppose the presiding jury with the legitimate exception that Jordison is a trained musician ("skillfully," we might add sarcastically). Oh, I forgot, the original recipe also included the addition of a DJ, an ingredient now obsolete given the new trends in the "Nouvelle Cuisine Of American Heavy Metal." The dish must be served hot; if you let it cool longer than the current trend, it risks becoming bland (or even worse, disgusting).

To move beyond the metaphor, when this self-titled debut album appeared in stores, few noticed the legalized scam perpetrated against extreme metal listeners. To be fair, if one enjoys these kinds of sounds, it must be said that this CD in itself might not be so useless. Just for the record, I mention the crossover temptations of "Purity," or the experiments of "Prosthetics," a track with very particular sounds. I similarly invite you to reflect: the choruses of "Wait And Bleed" are nothing but lullabies for retarded children, even more childish than those of a power group of the most stereotypical variety. "Spit It Out" is an insult to the Death Metal genre, not so much for the effects used (which, just as an idea, wouldn't be so bad), but for that Corey there, who sometimes sings like Fatman Scoop (of whom I note a hilarious video, I think it was called "Be Faithful"). Why distort the big riffs of "Only One" with those hideous rapped parts by a horse at the slaughterhouse? Let's leave such things to those who have the right background to blend them with taste (I raise a finger and name, Zack DeLa Rocha, and a high-pitched neigh resounds).

Holy Mary, how awful the bonus tracks named "Me Inside" and "Get This" are, not even the Sepultura of "Against" were capable of giving birth to such an abominable sound monster. Despite this, these nine fools were celebrated at the time as absolute innovators. I'd rather give the "telegattone della scaltrezza" to the Roadrunner producer who assembled and packaged them. Now, that's someone who understood how to make money hand over fist by mocking the ever-skeptical metal audience; now that's a sharp mind. Lastly, I once again apologize in advance to the last-minute metalheads for the statement that follows, but I really must. I've always wondered what the technical necessity is of forming a group of nine elements of which two are "percussionists" (meaning clowns in disguise, dedicated to the noble art of nose masturbation on stage). If I want to gift myself some tacky provocation, I'll go to see a Dani Filth concert (at least there, the masturbators are charming ladies disguised as black Venus).

And to think that there are people like Mudvayne, as well-prepared as they are full of ideas, who, to get noticed in the boiling pot of the time, went so far as to mimic them. Fortunately, the wind has already started blowing in another direction...

Did you never give a damn in the first place?
Maybe it's time you had the tables turned
'Cause in the interest of all involved I got the problem solved
And the verdict is guilty

Man nearly killed me
Stepping where you fear to tread
Stop, drop and roll - You were dead from the git-go!
Big mouth fucker - Stupid cocksucker
Are you scared of me now?
Then you're dumber than I thought
Always is and never was
Foundation made of piss and vinegar
Step to me, I'll smear ya -Think I fear ya? Bullshit!
Just another dumb punk chomping at this tit
Is there any way to break through the noise?
Was it something that I said that got you bent?
Gotta be that way if you want it
Sanity, Literal Profanity - Hit me!

Spit it out!
All you wanna do is drag me down
All I wanna do is stamp you out
Spit it out!
All you wanna do is drag me down
All I wanna do is stamp you out

Maybe it's the way you gotta spread a lotta rumour fodder
Keeping all your little spies and leaving when you realize
Step up, fairy
I guess it's time to bury your ass with the chrome
Straight to the dome
You hear me right, bitch, I didn't stutter
If you know what's good - Just shut up and beg, brother
Backstab - Don't you know who you're dissing?
Side swipe - The ass that you're kissing!

Bigity bigity - Bitch boy, halfway houser
Don't hear shit 'cause it keeps getting louder
Come on - And get a face full o' tactic
Lipping off hard, going home in a basket
You got no pull, no power, no nothing
Now you start shit? Well, ain't that somethin'?
Payoffs don't protect - And you can hide if you want
But I'll find you - Coming up behind you!

Spit it out!
All you wanna do is drag me down
All I wanna do is stamp you out
Spit it out!
All you wanna do is drag me down
All I wanna do is stamp you out

'Bout time I set this record straight
All the needlenose punching is making me irate
Sick of my bitching falling on deaf ears
Where you gonna be in the next five years?
The crew and all the fools, and all the politics
Get your lips ready, gonna gag, gonna make you sick
You got dick when they passed out the good stuff
Bam - Are you sick of me?
Good enough - Had enough?

Fuck Me! I'm all out of enemies!
Fuck Me! I'm all out of enemies!
Fuck Me! I'm all out of enemies!
Fuck Me! I'm all out of enemies!
Fuck Me! I'm all out of enemies!
Fuck Me! I'm all out of enemies!
Fuck Me! I'm all out of enemies!
Fuck Me! I'm all out of enemas!

Spit it out!
All you wanna do is drag me down
All I wanna do is stamp you out
Spit it out!
All you wanna do is drag me down
All I wanna do is spit you out

Spit!
Spit!
Spit!
Spit!
Spit it out!

Fuck You All!

Running out of ways to run
I can't see, I can't be
Over and over and under my skin
All this attention is doing me in!

Fuck it all!
Fuck this world!
Fuck everything that you stand for!
Don't belong!
Don't exist!
Don't give a shit!
Don't ever judge me!

Picking through the parts exposed
Taking shape, taking shag
Over and over and under my skin
All this momentum is doing me in!

Fuck it all!
Fuck this world!
Fuck everything that you stand for!
Don't belong!
Don't exist!
Don't give a shit!
Don't ever judge me!

And don't you fucking judge me!

You got all my love, livin' in your own hate
Drippin' hole man, hard step, no fate
Show you nuthin', but I ain't holdin' back
Every damn word I say is a sneak attack
When I get my hands on you
Ain't a fucking thing you can do
Get this cuz you're never gonna get me
I am the very disease you pretend to be

I am the push that makes you move
I am the push that makes you move
I am the push that makes you move
I am the push that makes you move

Fuck it all!
Fuck this world!
Fuck everything that you stand for!
Don't belong!
Don't exist!
Don't give a shit!
Don't ever judge me!

Fuck it all!
Fuck this world!
Fuck everything that you stand for!
Don't belong!
Don't exist!
Don't give a shit!
Don't ever judge me!

This debut is a gem in the history of music, many bands copy the Slipknot, but none are as original as them.

The magnificent Slipknot sound is pure power, a concentrate of violence, madness, impetuosity, fury, aggressiveness, and Truth.

Songs that are highly elaborate and complex as a foundation, driven primarily by the rhythm of the drums.

In short, in the big melting pot of Nu, this album certainly won’t be for everyone, but it undoubtedly remains one of the freshest and most successful instances of the genre.

Joey Jordison is great. Really. The best drummer on Earth, absolutely.

An album to have, one of the masterpieces of the nu-metal scene, complete, intense, original, and innovative. A must!

"The nine clowns of despair have created an angry and magnificent album."

"Fuck it all! Fuck this world! Fuck everything that you stand for! Don’t belong! Don’t exist! Don’t give a shit! Don’t ever judge me!"

If you call it nu-metal, take a look in the mirror, then we’ll talk again.

Not the best from the group, but Limp Bizkit, with all due respect, can only dream of a CD like this.
