The Slayer... after 20 years or more, they are still among the bands most accused of satanism (inverted crosses and stuff like that). Hypocritical gossip...
The album I am about to review is “God Hates Us All” and it is a damn fine record! The album is full of anger, violence, hatred, and disapproval... the solos are anything but melodic, once again confirming how Slayer is a "massacre-band," to listen to when you want to destroy the world...
Tom Araya finally returns with the angry voice we all know, and “God Hates Us All” aligns with the other excellent CDs produced by the band, even if it doesn't reach the songwriting levels of “Reign in Blood,” of course.
The album is direct and maybe even more hardcore, but beware: the Slayerian riffs have not undergone variations, only the attitude of the album is similar to “Undisputed Attitude,” an album released in 1996 that features covers of the best hardcore bands.
Let's analyze a few songs (there’s no need to analyze them all... those who have ears, let them hear...). "DARKNESS OF CHRIST" is a bunch of screams, chaotic voices, heavy riffs... the song in question and the others are a real war folks, Slayer against everyone else. And the weapons used by the quartet are heavy guitars and riffs ("DISCIPLE"), a drum that almost resembles a machine gun ("EXILE"), and bloody visions ("BLOODLINE"). The album ends with "PLAYBACK," which has slight hardcore influences.
This album is not a masterpiece like “Reign in Blood,” obviously, but without a doubt, it is an album that every Slayer fan should and must have.
A must.
Here Slayer are angrier than ever and they demonstrate it with the super fast and technical Disciple.
Go buy it, and it will be the nourishment for your daily headbanging for a long time!!!!!!
