THE REVIEW

The Slayer will never betray me.

Anyone who says that after five years they expected more is a jerk forced to crap: "Christ Illusion" is a top-notch album, even better than "God Hates Us All". While in the latter, fast tracks typical of the Award-Winning Company were interspersed with slower episodes ("in the style of Diabolus"), here the action kicks off at full throttle from the first track.

The modern influences are felt and are nonetheless a point in their favor because they have managed to integrate them excellently into the angry sound of their beginnings, which will NEVER abandon them. Consistency and professionalism, qualities that most famous and non-famous bands leave at home. Anti-religious lyrics and post-adolescent turmoil ("Skeleton Christ" and "Cult") are inappropriate for forty-five-year-olds? Not a damn! They have every reason in this World to be disgusted by a millennial farce based on air, the Slayer are among the small forces that will soon grow and defeat all this aberration.

The cover of the aforementioned album totally reflects this situation of degradation - although I reluctantly recognize that it can be quite offensive to the "believers" (but if they at least knew the whole Truth...!) - and it brings them even closer to the rawness and sincerity of the early years when the rain was red. And, of course, to God are referred the world powers, true essence of Evil, which in His name unconsciously gratify human desires: Supremacy and Wealth ("Consfearacy" and "Jihad"). And with this, do we want to perhaps debate the necessity or not of putting some 666 on the cover?! Or would it be better to thank them that at least someone is raising their voice of disapproval for all of us?

As time passes, Slayer will remain relevant, and reflecting on what they preach, this turns out to be an unfortunately disturbing news. I do not intend to continue further this personal assessment of the Album; to hell with objectivity or track by track analysis for once (it does not make sense, it is a sterile practice on the obvious content for those who do not have two slices of salami over their eyes), if Slayer is for you an anchor of salvation from the rot that surrounds us daily, you probably already bought it. Otherwise get it, download it, borrow it, whatever the hell you like, but bring some Light into your minds. Do it for your children too.

The return of Dave Lombardo can only make long-time fans happy.

'Christ Illusion' is a good album, to be clear, nothing new, all already heard, but still gives us some new songs from one of the bands that has always kept the flag of Metal flying high.

Slayer tries again after 5 years… to bring the Bay Area Thrash back to high levels.

The album is very appreciable musically, but perhaps a bit criticizable from a lyrical standpoint.

From the initial "Flesh Storm", we are certain it’s that infernal machine called Slayer.

Simply an album by Slayer! Aggressive and Angry!

Hell is far away but I’ve never felt it so close to me.

Slayer are strong and that’s it.
