Listening to the first album of Silent Civilian, one would immediately ask, "what has Jhonny Santos done?" …
Precisely he who left the 'Spineshank', one of the most valid bands around at the time, because it was becoming too "trendy".
Precisely he who now lets himself be carried away by this metalcore wave in which 90% of the bands fail to stay afloat. The album's title is "Rebirth of the Temple", but more than a rebirth of something, it seems to me the true defeat of an absolutely brilliant singer.
In fact, yes, it is only our beloved Santos keeping this album afloat, otherwise, the CD we are now discussing would have gone completely unnoticed. Talking about the album's artwork, it must be said that it is quite nice and very well done, whereas musically the level drops considerably.
'Silent Civilian' seem to draw heavily from bands like 'KillSwitch Engage' and 'Caliban', but especially from the newer generations such as 'Trivium' and the excellent 'Bullet For My Valentine'. The band's intent would be to play brutal thrash-metal but without ever losing sight of a certain underlying melody. The performance of the band's most famous member is still outstanding.
Among the best tracks of the album are certainly the title-track, "The Song Remains Un-Named", and "Divided". Also, "Lies in The House of Shame" is not bad at all.
Finally, a curiosity: there is a song entitled "Dead To Me 2006", the same title as an old 'Spineshank' song with the obvious addition of the date.
