American rock band formed by brothers Brandon Curtis and Benjamin Curtis with drummer Josh Garza. Originating from Texas and later based in New York, they are known for a space-rock/psychedelic sound blending keyboards, effect-laden guitars and driving drums. Benjamin Curtis died of lymphoma in 2013.

Debut album Now Here Is Nowhere (2004) is covered in DeBaser. Awake In The Brain Chamber was released in 2020. Benjamin Curtis left to form School Of Seven Bells (mentioned in reviews) and died of lymphoma in 2013.

Two DeBaser reviews highlight Secret Machines' blend of ʼ70s/ʼ90s indie influences, space-rock textures and hypnotic suites. Critics praise consistent songwriting, instrumental blend, and the 2020 comeback album. Benjamin Curtis's role and his death are noted as significant to the band's story.

For:Fans of space rock, shoegaze, psychedelic and 2000s indie rock; listeners who appreciate guitar-driven, melancholic, textured albums.

And so we can admit that these three Texans transplanted to NY hit the mark.
