THE REVIEW

Turin is a unique place, a wonderful city that makes you feel at home, yet at the same time keeps you at a distance because it never fully opens up to you.

It welcomes you but remains elusive, it's never truly yours.

The Savoyard etiquette goes far beyond gianduiotti and bagna càuda. It's the cause of silence and a sense of duty, the nauseating feeling of guilt that comes after pleasure.

And so, what better name to baptize the first full-length by Scheletri than "Torino"?

Three years after the excellent EP "Ossa Rotte", of which 4 tracks are revisited, the Savoyard combo reaffirms itself as one of the best local pop-punk acts.

Like streams of consciousness, both in terms of music and lyrics, it feels as if the songs were already in the air and the band is just a conduit that makes them tangible.

Here I will die

Without knowing the streets

Without a place

To go

Raise your hand if at least once in life you haven't felt like a guest in your own home, unique among many, too many indifferent faces.

The 'minor-chords' are the accompaniment befitting a narrative that's melancholic yet also disillusioned.

I feel the bones breaking

Under the weight of

Every Monday

We are in the presence of a little gem, a perfect operation of recovering certain sounds that made emocore great in the early '00s. It's just a pity that such density has to be divided so rigidly between the tracks of "Ossa Rotte" and other unreleased ones, as the change of pace is evident.

Awaiting the decisive move towards the crown of champions of a certain local alt-rock trend, Scheletri conclude a 2023 of excellent releases without any disgrace at all.

Summary by Bot

Scheletri's 'Torino' is a compelling full-length album that captures the melancholic and disillusioned atmosphere of its namesake city. Building on their earlier EP 'Ossa Rotte,' Scheletri solidify their place among Italy's best local pop-punk bands. The album skillfully revives the emocore sound of the early 2000s with heartfelt lyrics and minor chord melodies. Although the pace varies between revisited and new tracks, the overall effect is that of a beautifully crafted alt-rock release. The band awaits a breakthrough toward the local alt-rock crown with this standout 2023 album.
