THE REVIEW

The Savoy Brown were one of the first blues bands from the United Kingdom, they've been on the scene for about forty years and the terms to describe them have been numerous; some call them legendary, others innovators.
They officially formed in 1966 and their first work, the good Shake Down, immediately appeared like a bolt from the blue in the vibrant musical landscape of foggy London, and songs like I'm Tired and Louisiana Blues quickly became chart-topping hits.

The core of the group goes by the name of Kim Simmonds, a genius and innovative guitarist, as well as a composer and all-rounder in the band's management. The initial lineup remained stable until 1971, during which they composed six albums in five years (Blue Matter, Raw Sienna, Looking In, the most representative) but then lineup changes began, with poor Simmonds forced to recruit new members to continue the journey.

The musical offering of Savoy Brown consists of high-energy and very aggressive Rock/Blues and has always been the band's calling card, although during their career, they have also ventured into Hard Rock, especially from the mid-seventies when their American performances drew massive crowds to their concerts.

Street Corner Talking came out in 1971 and the group was rewarded with their first platinum album, launched like a train on the English charts of that time.
The work in question is structured in eight highly composed songs, resulting in a sound that is at times sharp, at times harmonious and melodic, even venturing into the most captivating boogie, all skillfully wrapped in Simmonds' guitar embellishments. Songs like Tell Mama, I Can't Get Next To You, Street Corner Talking, Wang Dang Doodle are so vigorous and full of melody that trying to resist them is really a challenge, the music reaches inside you and passes through, shaking your soul and warming your heart.

A band in my humble opinion somewhat forgotten and to be rediscovered, especially from their beginnings until the early seventies.
