A friend lent me this album. It strikes with its personality, style, and arrangements. Unfortunately, Samuele Bersani hasn't expressed himself at this level again, and it's a real shame.
The sincere and at times "tender" lyrics, complicated just enough, make listening to this album very interesting and hardly ever banal, but above all full of emotional moments. The "pop" sound manages not to tire the ear. By dedicating about fifty minutes to it, this album manages to express Bersani's shyness and at the same time his sharp irony, which moves while balancing the description of a "light" appearance and a profound discomfort. Despite the intimate nature of the lyrics, it's not difficult to find oneself sharing feelings that connect with almost all modern generations...
These are not live performance songs (considering the richness of the arrangements, perhaps they wouldn't have the same effect), but in their way, they make a thoughtful listener reflect alone on a sofa (or in the company of ink-tipped black hair, but that's a privilege for a few...). The album's rhythmic variety (Golino on drums is a genius!!) and the amazing synth sections (extraordinary taste!!), enriched by never intrusive pianos and well-thought-out accompanying guitars in sounds and parts, make this a technically very valid album, in complete harmony with the singer-songwriter's style.
The voice (not a great vocal range, to be honest) is enriched by choirs and counter-voices barely hinted at but of great presence and effect. Bersani's undeniable talent contributes to giving a melancholic tone to 11 songs I won't forget.
Samuele Bersani’s album just doesn't live up to the promise.
A true disappointment for long-time fans.
