How many are the bands in Italy that know how to write a chorus that isn't a jumble of banality, of nonsense? RogoredoFS definitely know how to do it. In this debut EP, there are several instances where they show us that songwriting is not a mere exercise, an onanism with a Treccani in hand, a demonstration of how more or less cool one is. But for the new generations, or for university students who think they have the upper hand (listen to the cruel and ruthless yet clear "Crostini" where they sing "Twenty-one years lost suppressing the brain, Convinced they'll level up through books"), perhaps an album like this, which shakes souls (those "awakened" ones, who want to listen to themselves) is not appealing, there's too much effort required. Perhaps brilliant questions directed at "drowsy" people feel too tight (as exactly in "Soporoso" where they and we ask; Is it the system that imprisoned you? Or did you swallow the keys?). This tangle of provocations, questions, often set in choruses that, if we were in a normal country, could become generational anthems, often corresponds to a musical tangle that perfectly envelops such "deep" lyrics. Yes, because, for example, in "Narcan" (another track with a lethal chorus), the song starts slowly, with a guitar arpeggio that reminds one of the genius stumbles of Thelonius Monk's notes, only to become a melancholic rock ballad with a relentless progression that overwhelms you and then fades into a finale with penetrating rock riffs. All this with a vocalist beyond any schema. A singer who rolls out perfect and serious lyrics with just enough of a mocking smile, hopefully, to make people vomit the system's keys that many, unfortunately, have swallowed between an aperitif and a gin tonic.
