LA RECENSIONE

"And the poets and the comedians can

be like little children,

they can,

in fact, play with ideals

or talk

with objects, plants, and animals."

It's just a whim, a quirk, a caprice.

Forgive me, You Disturb Me is the first film I saw by Benigni and the one that made me laugh the most, together with the TuttoBenigni series.

This is Benigni's first film as a director. It is divided into four sketches. The last two are very funny because very serious things go the opposite of how they should; the second is a bit melodramatic; and the first, the first talks about the holy family and Benigno, it's funny, but less so.

This film also reminds us that the sacred can offer a lot of material for a comedian.

It says that banks lend money to those who already have money, but they don't lend to those who don't have it.

Then there's a beautiful thing in this film: there are four songs by Paolo Conte that open and close each sketch of this film.

Then this film also says that each of us has our own angel, but maybe not, and that it's a tragedy to lose it. The angel, however, is not the Count's wife, whom Benigni likes a lot, but a pretty and not-so-great Nicoletta Braschi.

And finally, it also says that the fire of the homeland and the request for a loan have ceremonies so structured that it would be a shame not to laugh about it.
