Rhys Chatham

A Crimson Grail Ghemison

It would be impossible to imagine elsewhere the four hundred guitars of "A Crimson Grail" and even the vast audience initially unaware of the richness and evocative power of the rite they are witnessing.

Three very delicate and celestial movements make up the content of this album… Aggressiveness has now given way to admirable cosmic tendencies and it would not even seem like there are so many guitars.

Listen to Rhys Chatham's 'A Crimson Grail' and experience an epic journey of 400 guitars in cosmic harmony.

You and A Crimson Grail

Rhys Chatham

Rhys Chatham is an American composer, guitarist, and trumpeter who fused minimalist processes with the energy of New York’s rock and no wave scenes. A student of La Monte Young and Morton Subotnick, he pioneered large-ensemble guitar works such as An Angel Moves Too Fast to See and A Crimson Grail, and influenced artists including Sonic Youth and Glenn Branca. He has also composed for brass and dance, and spent significant years living in Paris.
