THE REVIEW

There is no light in the heavy, metallic grooves crafted by Reverend Bizarre. There is no opening, nothing at all. Just fucking powerful, deflagrating, and infinite acid doom metal. Three madmen who couldn't care less about experimentation, technology, or any kind of polished modernization to produce a record of black, grandiose, ironic, and anciently "classic" doom metal. Their music is the musical and conceptual extremization of the Swedish band Candlemass.

"II: Crush the insects" is the second studio chapter of this extremization, which had already showcased its black cloaks in the EP "Return to the rectory". Then, in 2005, came "Crush the insects", another dark behemoth from the Finnish trio from Lohja. Virtually no originality, innovation below zero: to hell with musical sophisms, they value the decaying rawness of the guitar, the sluggish pace, the ancestral and pagan echoes. They elaborate the epic sound of the past with the raw "Cromwell", destroy every hope with the inexorable advance of the opener "Doom over the world", and sweep away everything and everyone with the kyussian surge of "By this axe I rule!", a harrowing example of the Reverend's musical creed.

A Reverend Bizarre album is the primordial and mystical marriage of Candlemass, Pentagram, Saint Vitus, and Black Sabbath, taken to the nth degree and then filled with hallucinations, pitch, and rockslides from Cirith Ungol.

Heaviness (and guts) are grateful.

1. "Doom Over The World" (7:37)
2. "The Devil Rides Out" (6:10)
3. "Cromwell" (5:25)
4. "Slave Of Satan" (13:28)
5. "Council Of Ten" (8:32)
6. "By This Axe I Rule!" (10:02)
7. "Eternal Forest" (10:53)
8. "Fucking Wizard" (11:15)
